It's completely understandable to have concerns about radiation therapy when dealing with existing heart conditions. Many patients with cardiac history do receive radiation safely, and modern techniques have significantly reduced heart exposure compared to older methods. The oncology team will carefully evaluate all aspects of your medical history, including your previous heart attack, stents, and other cardiac treatments, to develop the safest treatment plan for your specific situation. This conversation with your oncologist will be crucial - they can discuss modified radiation techniques, heart-sparing approaches, or alternative treatment options that might be appropriate for stage 0 DCIS with your cardiac background.
