After lumpectomy of very early breast cancer I started on tamoxifen. I declined radiation due to the very limited prospect of help in my case. I am now having severe nights sweats which my doctor is not really giving any advice on this. I also have suddenly developed high triglycerides. Again not much of help except to work with cardiologist. Any advice in dealing with these? I am 73 years old.

Managing tamoxifen side effects can be challenging, and it's frustrating when you're not getting the guidance you need from your healthcare team. Many people in this community have found relief through various approaches like staying hydrated, using cooling products for night sweats, and working with dietitians for triglyceride management - sharing experiences here might help you discover what works best for your situation.

After lumpectomy of early breast cancer, I had radiation. Then started on aromasin(exemestane) which gave me hot flashes. I was told by my oncologist to drink lots of water and this would alleviate them. I drink 48 to 64 Oz. of water a day. This has alleviated them. This might work for you. I agree to work with cardiologist regarding high triglycerides. Best of luck to you. I hope this helps. I am 67 years old.

I had mastectomy in 2022 and I am now on Aromasin. The hot flashes were horrible. My oncologist started me on Pristiq. I went from hot flashes every hour to 1 or 2 mild ones a day. Ask your doctor about it.

My understanding is that with your cholesterol the ratio is more important. A ratio under 5:1 is good. I think ideal is 3.5:1. Also there are articles on how the "industry" has artificially changed the cholesterol level concern from 300 down to 200 (possibly driven by profit from companies/special interest groups) that benefit financially from treatments (medications, etc). Taking a higher level of fish oil, cutting out all alcohol, minimizing crap food (fast food, processed food, sweets) has helped me. I am now working on being consistent with low level exercises
