a year agoAnyone with experience using cold capping with chemotherapy treatments? Did it work for you to minimize head tenderness and hair loss? Recommendations on specific equipment?

Cold capping has shown promising results for many people going through chemotherapy, with studies indicating it can significantly reduce hair loss in a substantial number of patients. This community is a great place to connect with others who have firsthand experience with different cold cap systems and can share practical tips about what worked best for them during treatment.

6 months agoHi Rebecca I did cooler heads Amma cold cap system. It was very effective for my type of chemo. 4 rounds of TC. I only had some thinning. It is a little expensive but worth it for me. There was still some tenderness especially after the first treatment and that’s when I lost the bulk of my hair at 18 days after the first treatment. I didn’t lose much at all in the final 3 treatments. This is the system that was offered at my infusion center.

6 months agoLisabeth, did you use it only during the treatment sessions? I see where some people are using it in the days following treatment to manage symptoms. Thanks for sharing.

6 months agoOnly during treatment. You put it on a half hour before treatment and then keep it on for 2 hours after. It’s a machine that runs cold liquid thru a cap on your head. It’s not like other capping systems that you change out the caps that you keep in dry ice.

6 months agoI used penguin cold caps. 12 weekly treatments of Taxol. It worked well. I lost 40 percent of my hair but evenly and not in patches so you can’t really tell that much.
