Has anyone done acupuncture for night sweats? My oncologist is recommending I give it a try.

Many people in the breast cancer community have explored acupuncture for managing treatment-related symptoms, and it's encouraging that your oncologist is open to complementary approaches. This could be a great opportunity to connect with others here who may have tried acupuncture and can share their experiences with you.

It is very common in integrative medicine among massages, yoga, Taichi etc. your oncologist should have information about a program who offers it.

Vanessa M. True at some hospitals. Not my old one. This is recommended by my new oncologist at my new facility. I have information. I would like to hear if you have tried it or from people who have tried it.

Yes Glenda I’m currently in a program and is what keeps me busy I get to meet other woman who had different experiences with different diagnoses. Also their classes are a way to distract me from chemo also during chemo there’s an art teacher.

Hey Glenda! I tried acupuncture for night sweats and post radiation pain. I don't think it did much for my night sweats (gabapentin just at night before bed works great for me!) BUT it helped so much with the radiation tightness and pain. I was actually shocked at how well it worked for that. Obviously every body is different but I say give it a shot! The sessions are very comfortable and relaxing. I fell asleep a couple times. Report back if you try and let us know your thoughts!! Suzanne (Community Moderator)

Suzanne. I am hoping this works. I had an adverse reaction to gabapentin, nerve inflamation, oxybutynin cause stomach issues. Antidepressant make me feel like a Zombie. I had one session. Tomorrow I will have another session. On Tuesday, I get my fulvesterant shot and fingers crossed it helps because the night sweats are brutal for about 2 to 3 weeks after the shot.

Suzanne, I am also having radiation pain. It has started about a week after I completed radiation and feels like a sharp stabbing pain at my surgical incision for my mastectomy (below my breast). I am going to call my doctor, but is this normal?

Rene Hedemann I had that when I had radiation. Turned out to be scare tissue. I ended up seeing a lymphodema therapist. She was so helpful.

I used acupuncture for post op pain,it helped some. Take Veozah for hot flashes. Its a prescription. No side effects. Its for women who cant or dont want to take HRT

This is a new drug similar to Veozah that has been in trials for women in treatment for breast cancer...Elinzanetant (Lynkuet) . I take the Veozah...I understand the pharmacological part and am confident that it will not interfere with my anastrozole. I was surprised that my oncologist had not given it to anyone considering how much women suffer on these meds. As a nurse and a patient I feel like if we can get rid of the worst side effects by taking 1 pill and then doing other things like exercise, acupuncture, vitamins we can tolerate the meds without feeling horrible. Fight for your life to be the best it can be.
