I am stage 1, HER2+, 8 mm tumor, negative sentinel node, bilateral mastectomy. I had 4 weekly doses of Herceptin, then a heart attack. My left ventricle remains damaged and I cannot take Herceptin. I feel very afraid- when I read about anti her2 therapies, they are all for metastatic disease…. I feel I have a window of opportunity for cure. Would more chemo be helpful? Has any stage 1 pt received a PET scan?

Facing treatment changes due to heart complications can feel overwhelming, especially when concerned about maintaining the best possible outcome. These feelings are completely understandable given the difficult situation. Many patients have found it helpful to discuss alternative treatment approaches with their oncology team, as there may be other options to consider for early-stage disease. The medical team can also provide guidance on appropriate monitoring and imaging based on individual circumstances. Ask for Signatera testing..I was told Pet scans aren't necessary, but made me a nervous wreck. Insurance will approve it. It's blood testing that show even before a scan. They do it every 3 months and it shows if any new cancer cells are forming
