a year agoI had a lumpectomy and 6 lymph nodes removed and was told I am now cancer free but I am still feeling like hell and scared to death of recurrence. I do have to get radiation therapy not sure how many times. I am not sure what I should do from here cancer has been my everyday friend for the last 9 months

The fear of recurrence after hearing "cancer free" is one of the most common and understandable feelings shared in this community. Many people find that connecting with others who've walked this path, whether through support groups or communities like this one, helps them process these complex emotions and learn practical coping strategies for moving forward.

6 months agoIt is hard. I feel the same way but i am trying hard to be in control and not let cancer be in control or to define who I am. I was a person before the diagnosis and I am still a person

6 months agoJudilyn, I was told the same thing after the lumpectomy and 3 nodes were removed. Having 16 radiation treatments starting next week. My therapist said this will always be with us. The fear we have. She said do breathing exercises and try not to think about it. It's hard but we can do it. We fought this hard already. And we are all fighters. My thoughts and prayers are with all of us. š©·š©·š©·

6 months agoHarriet, and ļæ¼Judilyn. I was diagnosed a year ago, had a lumpectomy, with a reduction in my left breast so they would be symmetrical and they found cancer there as well. Had sentelnodesļæ¼ removed. 16 rounds of radiation. We are all fighters and not alone. I believe it will get easier, and because treatments are always progressing it will make it easier for us to move from always worrying. If you havenāt started your radiation you should talk to your doctors about MEPITEL FILM. It saves your breast skin from breaking down. Itās applied after your first treatment. Itās a god send and donāt let your radiation oncologist say they donāt have time or donāt know what it is. Have them reach out to COMPASS ONCOLOGY IN OREGON AND TALK TO DR. ARSCOTT. He was part of the research and uses on ALL of his patients. Lean into the Holidays with your friends and family. That will help you move through these moments in time. š. Tell them what you need from them, because they wonāt just know āŗļø
