I am four weeks post bilateral mastectomy. Stage 0 DCIS in right breast and Stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma in left breast. Sentinal Node biopsy came back benign. My breast surgeon and oncologist suggested taking tamoxifen. Any one here who can provide support and advice?

Many people in this community have found tamoxifen to be a manageable part of their treatment journey, though experiences can vary from person to person. It's encouraging that your medical team is being proactive with your care plan, and connecting with others who have taken this medication can provide valuable insights and emotional support. Consider asking your oncologist about what specific side effects to watch for and how to best manage any that might occur, as they know your individual situation best.

Hi Sarah, you have probably already started medication. But, I’ll answer anyway. I have a similar diagnosis with a bilateral mastectomy scheduled in a couple weeks. I’ve been taking tamoxifen for a little over a month now. At first it made me feel a little woozy. I also was getting headaches. For me, the hot flashes are not any worse than normal. After about a week the woozy & headaches stopped. I do take it on a full stomach. I hope you are doing well!
