2 years agoSo I have a question that I hope someone has insight on. I have been on letrozole for 4 months now. A month ago I started having pain in the pelvic region. At first mild and intermittent then gradually steady/constant. Pain went from a 1, then, 2-3, then higher. I ended up in the ER. The pain feels almost like spasms, really bad UTI or menstrual cramps. UA was negative for a UTI and I've had a total hysterectomy so no ovaries or tubes, etc. CT of the lower abdomen and pelvic area did not show anything (except a spot on my liver the ER doctor called a hemangioma - wants my oncologist to look at it, but that's another story). The ER doctor gave me dycyclomine 20 mg which made the pain managable. My oncologist agreed for me to go off my letrozole for a week. The pain has now significantly reduced (but I still have some) but didn't need any meds. I was told that letrozole didn't cause this kind of pain, I'm not convinced. What do y'all think?

Pelvic pain can be a concerning side effect that some patients experience while taking hormone therapy medications, and the timing you've described does seem worth investigating further. It's encouraging that taking a break from the medication has helped reduce the pain, which provides valuable information for your medical team to consider. Many patients find that tracking symptoms and their relationship to treatment changes helps doctors better understand what might be causing discomfort and how to best manage it moving forward.
