Unexpected Breast Cancer Follow-Up After 18 Years

This is December , 2023. My follow-up has changed drastically to Q 6 mos. Original breast cancer was in 2005 & now the question of reoccurrence? I thought I was “ home free”! Considering death of my sister @ 2 yrs after diagnosis! The reschedule Mamie after initial was shocking. I knew something was wrong, but the follow up was secretive …. no discussion of suspected problem. Felt like I was hanging out to dry! Much of what I am seeing on here is strange to me ! Lor, I I am a BSN RN!

Cancer doesn't follow the timelines we expect, and it's completely understandable to feel shocked and uncertain when follow-up schedules change after so many years. The lack of clear communication from healthcare providers can make an already stressful situation feel even more overwhelming, especially when past experiences with family members add to those concerns. Many community members have shared similar experiences with unexpected changes in monitoring, and connecting with others who understand this journey can provide valuable support and perspective.
