I am starting Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy on May 6 2025. I am having each session will be for 2 hours. This will be four 5 consecutive week days. There will be 40 treatments. This is due to lack of any wound care while being in a SNIFF for 5 days. On my post op appointment my surgeon was very upset upon examining my wound. She had to re admit me back into the hospital for a full week. After having IV treatments I and additional medication I was discharged. Then I was admitted into a much better SNIFF.There I did receive wound care. Every day a wound care nurse treats my wound. My surgeon had told me that normally when she would have a patient with my condition she would take that person back to the OR for additional surgery. However I was not a candidate because of the condition of my tissue. That is one reason I wrote about making sure that you will not have too much Radiation.

Thank you for sharing your experience with hyperbaric oxygen therapy and the challenges you've faced with wound healing after surgery. It sounds like you've been through a lot, and it's encouraging that you found better care at the second facility where you're receiving daily wound treatment. Your reminder about radiation effects is valuable for others in the community who may be considering their treatment options. Wishing you healing and progress as you begin your 40 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in May.

Same.. my skin wasn't mending, so I am currently doing hyperbaric therapy. I needed 20 sessions and I have only 7 left. I didn't need hospitalization, but my surgeon didn't like how it was looking at first and if it wasn't better by my last appointment, I was heading back to the hospital. I don't like it, but it is making a huge difference and I'm healing much better. I expressed how uncomfortable it makes me feel and her answer was "Either this or surgery". Hopefully, you'll have a similar experience. My advice to you while in the chamber, try to relax as much as possible and try to find the easiest way to unclog your ears. And if they have a TV, try to watch a series that keeps your mind off it. I'm watching some reality show drama.. 2 hour long episodes and I'm done. I wanted something mind-numbing and reality shows are definitely mind-numbing lol you'll get through this, and your wounds will start looking better within 4-5 sessions, it could be sooner depending on your body's response. You got this.. it's the easiest therapy we will go through in our journey. Good luck and keep us updated ♡
