7 hours agoI have my first PET scan in a few hours. Any advice? I found the imaging center to be insanely unhelpful and only learned about risks and post scan precautions because my 92 year old mother researched it on AI!

2 hours agoIt's completely understandable to feel unprepared when medical facilities don't provide thorough information about what to expect during a PET scan. Many patients find it helpful to arrive well-hydrated, wear comfortable clothing without metal, and plan for the procedure to take a few hours since there's typically a waiting period after receiving the radioactive tracer before the actual scanning begins. Kudos to your mother for doing that research - having someone advocate for you and help gather information can make such a difference in feeling more prepared and confident going into medical procedures.
