2 months agoHello: I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer(peritoneal) in January’23. I had 3 rounds of chemo and then a total hysterectomy with debunking. I went through 3 more rounds of chemo and then about 1 1/2 years of remission with immunotherapy ( Avastin). I could no longer take it because it affected my kidneys. My cancer came back in the lining around my rt. lung. I was given a half dose of Taxol. It seemed to work pretty good. I decided to try a targeted treatment drug called Lynparza. Have any of you taking this had breathing problems? I’ll explain later.

2 months agoBreathing problems can be a concerning side effect with some medications, and it's understandable to want to hear from others who might have similar experiences. Many community members find it helpful to share their experiences with different treatments and side effects. Consider discussing any breathing changes with your healthcare team, as they can best evaluate whether this might be related to your current treatment or other factors. Other members of this community may have valuable insights to share about their own experiences with targeted treatments.

a month agoKathy, I’m sorry I haven’t reached back out before now. My CT showed a reoccurrence of cancer. Still in the lining around my right lung. Also swollen lymph nodes in my chest and two small lesions on my spleen. I am off of the Lynparza now. I believe it caused my anemia which I’m getting iron infusions for now. So.. I was on the Lynparza for 7 months. My gynecology/ oncologist and his team will meet soon to decide best treatment for me. I hope you’re doing well. We’re in this fight together.

a month agoHi Karen, I’m doing ok. Also have a reoccurrence. I had a few cells on my colon and a few scattered around my liver and spleen. I started on Elahere and Avastin. The side affects the first full week was stomach pain and fatigue. I was very Happy when the pain went away. For these 2 drugs, I had to get a steroid eye drop and put in my eyes for 8 days. Apparently Elahere can Affect your eyes. Also I have to take my BP everyday, because Avastin can cause your blood pressure to go up. So far so good. Yes we are going to get through it!! Keep up the fight. Let me know what the Dr.’s say for your next treatment. I’ll say some prayers for you. 🙏🙏🙏

a month agoThank you Kathy. Hope you continue to do well on the new meds. On a positive note I was released from the kidney doctor yesterday. The Avastin caused high blood pressure for me which affected my kidneys. Prayers for you as well.

a month agoKathy, the tumor board that my doctor met with recommended Elahere. I will start on May 5th. Taking iron infusions before hand. I am not looking forward to the stomach pain.

a month agoI had stomach pain, not bad, but uncomfortable, for over a week. I felt good after that

a month agoWell that’s good news so I’m praying mine won’t be bad. How long of an infusion is it?
Community Member
a month agoThe first infusion they give you slowly. The premeds took 30, min, then Elahere was 90 min. My second infusion will take 60 min, the 3rd 30 min. I also take Avastin, so that’s another 30 min. So, eventually it’ll take you an hour. I felt good after the first week. The stomach pain could be from the Elahere attacking the cells, so each infusion could get better 🤞🏻🙏 let me know how it goes for you. My second infusion is Wed.
