I'm on my 3rd month from Robotics surgery. Some nights it feels like I can hold it not as wet. But when I am walking around during the day it starts leaking but I can't stop it just at the grocery store for no reason. It seems like it happens all the time me. Will it get better. Need some suggestions Thanks

Recovery from robotic prostate surgery takes time, and many patients experience gradual improvement in continence over several months to a year. The pattern of better control at rest versus leakage during activity is common during the healing process, as different muscles and movements can affect recovery. Consider discussing pelvic floor exercises with your healthcare team, as these can help strengthen the muscles that control urination, and don't hesitate to ask about other supportive options that might help during your recovery journey.

I wish that I had kept a diary on this. But I am sure that my control was pretty poor 3 months after surgery. Were you prescribed some exercises/ physical therapy to help?

I am one year out from my surgery and still must wear diapers. I have been to physical therapy and have done the hated exercise regimen. My PSA is doubling at an 8 month clip...the Dr. Said 9 months was alarming. I'm wondering if I should have had the robotic surgery.

During the months after my prostatectomy, and before I started hormone therapy and then radiation I went to a PT for pelvic strengthening(kegel exercises). It helped a great deal. My wife bought me pads and depends for the recovery period which lasted about 3 months. I had a few accidents in my sleep but by 6 months out I was dry all the time. Ask your local hospital or your urologist about it. I went to a place that specialized in pelvic floor therapy. It was well worth it and it’s something you can pretty much do anytime. Good luck to you

I had a Gleason 9 in 12/23. Had robotic prostatectomy as well as 11 lymph nodes and seminal vesicles removed. Undetectable cancer for 9 months with incontinence improving with pelvic floor PT. But still not completely dry. Then cancer returned and started ADT therapy (Orgovyx) 10/24 daily. Have been on it for 16 months. I also had 35 radiation treatments from November 2024-January 2025. Since 1/25 my cancer has been undetectable. However my incontinence has gotten worse and there are other uncomfortable side effects like joint pain, hot flashes, headaches, trouble sleeping and impatience. I developed a trigger finger which had to be surgically repaired. And the side effects are cumulative and my energy level is greatly reduced. Oh, and I have gone from 155 pounds to 175 pounds and waist size 34 to 36. I have 2 more months on this pill and am hoping the cancer does not return and the side effects quickly dissipate. Anyone, go through what I have who can shed light on what lies ahead. But with all of the above I have no real complaints and consider myself lucky and blessed to be here after how things started in October 2023.
