a month agoDiagnosis of prostate cancer in Oct. 2014, Gleason score 7, removed Jan. 2015, 36 radiation treatments in Nov. 2015. Remission and undetectable til Jul. 2020, radiation 5 treatments, 2 years later 5 more. Been on hormone therapy, Abiraterone and Lupron shots since Dec 2023, PSA undetectable with mild fatigue. Walk and exercise every day, a nap here and there.

a month agoManaging fatigue on hormone therapy can be challenging, and it sounds like you've developed some excellent strategies with daily exercise and allowing yourself rest when needed. Many others in the community have found that maintaining a consistent routine with physical activity, while listening to their body's need for breaks, helps balance energy levels throughout treatment - what approaches have worked best for you so far?

a month agoThat's such great advice about balancing exercise with rest - I'd also suggest tracking your energy patterns throughout the day to see if certain times work better for activities or if adjusting meal timing helps with the fatigue.

a month agoThanks for replying to my post CAI and Kirk.Thats good advice for all prostate cancer patients. I pretty much try to read my body. If I feel a bit more fatigued I just rest as much as possible. If I have something planned that lasts into late night I'll try to nap in afternoon. It's really just kind of a juggling act. Errands, yardwork etc. try not to do on the late night days. And many days you just push through and catch up on rest tomorrow. My advice is just keep moving as much as possible, don't become a couch potato.

12 days agoI start radiation therapy in 5 days, 25 treatments at low dose radiation, also on hormone pills for 6 months. Had prostate removed in2016, 0 PSA for 5 years. PSA started moving up in2021. Has been rising ever since. PSA 0.34 none detectable with pet scans. Not looking forward to radiation, little concerned about doing damage some where else. How did you do with radiation?

12 days agoHi Matt, I had 35 low dose treatments in Nov. 2015 and then the 5 high dose in 2020 and 2022. There was no skin burns or any other noticable side effects until I found out in 2024 after a colonoscopy they found 1 spot of scar tissue from radiation on my colon. I deal with constipation a lot but I've had IBS for years. My constipation has been a bit worse this last year but I also have a twist in my colon. I was told the constipation was mostly from twist but scar tissue can cause problems too. I'm not sure if it is, but that would be only side effect for me after almost 11 years since first radiation treatments. Hope this helps with your decision.
