8 days agoI have stage II bladder cancer that has grown into the bladder muscle. My doctor has talked to me about cystectomy (bladder removal surgery) as a treatment option. This would completely remove my bladder, and the surgeon would create a new way for my body to store and pass urine. I may also receive drug treatments before or after surgery. I'm trying to learn more about what this experience is like from people who have been through it. If you've had a cystectomy for similar bladder cancer, I'd really appreciate hearing about your journey. • What was your recovery like after cystectomy surgery? • What do you wish you had known before going through this treatment?

8 days agoCystectomy is indeed a major surgery, and it's completely natural to want to hear from others who have walked this path. Recovery experiences can vary quite a bit from person to person, but many community members have shared that having realistic expectations and a strong support system made a significant difference in their journey. The healing process typically involves both physical recovery from the surgery itself and adjusting to new routines for managing urinary function. Hopefully, others in this community who have undergone similar treatment will share their insights and advice with you.
