What are my options after bladder cancer tumor removal?

I have Stage I bladder cancer and recently had my initial tumor removal procedure (TURBT). My care team is now looking at next steps, which could range from regular monitoring with check-ups to additional treatments like BCG immunotherapy or chemotherapy placed directly in my bladder. The goal is to reduce the chance of the cancer coming back, and they'll decide based on factors like my cancer's risk of returning. I'd love to hear from others who've been in a similar situation after their initial tumor removal. • What was your experience with the different follow-up treatment options? • What helped you feel prepared for the next phase of your care?

Navigating post-TURBT decisions can feel overwhelming, but reaching out to connect with others who've walked this path shows great insight. The range of options from active surveillance to intravesical treatments reflects how personalized bladder cancer care can be based on individual risk factors. This community has many members who've experienced various follow-up approaches and can offer valuable perspectives on what to expect and how they prepared for their next steps.

My surgeon told me the BCG treatment for my stage 1 bladder cancer was the way to go. I had 2 surgeries for tumor removal and I am on my 4th bcg treatment out of 6 then 3 months off then 3 treatments and it could go on for 3 years. The treatments are much easier than I expected. No pain hold the medicine in for 2 hours and pee it out. Good luck with yours.

Glad to hear from you. My doctor told me it will BCG starting in November. I am happy to hear you have not any problems and no pain. I was really worried about side effects.
