This type of breast cancer has unique characteristics that your medical team will help explain as you move forward with your treatment plan. 7 months agoSorry to hear your diagnosis. I was diagnosed with ILC in January. Recovering from lumpectomy and oncoplasty now.

7 months agoWhat is oncoplasty? They keep talking about masectomy. I asked if they remove the cancer & the breast looks bad can they do a partial rebuilt. The doctors here have never heard of doing that. I do not want a masectomy because I am sure my body will reject silicone implants.

7 months agoRecovery has been good. A couple of days was on pain meds but after that just uncomfortable/sore. It was much better than I was afraid of!!

7 months agoOncoplasty combines a lumpectomy with plastic surgery to reshape the breast. Many times a reduction and lift is done in oncoplasty, which is what I had. My surgeon told me that this procedure allowed her to take larger amount of tissue to be certain of clear margins. That was the reason I chose it.

7 months agoI think this is exactly what I need. Is not offered here. Where is a good place to have this done? Good doctor? Not a candidate for silicone transplants because I know my body will reject them because I have an overactive immune system.

7 months agoI would ask drs and other patients in your area for recommendations. Also, depending on where you live, larger facilities such as MD Anderson, Mayo, etc., have more options and may be worth traveling to.

7 months agoI am traveling for 3 hours for my treatment to Roswell in Buffalo Ny and my plan when I get to radiation is to travel 4.5 hours to lancaster PA for proton therapy because I have had bypass surgery and regular radiation would further damage my heart.

7 months agoM Jane W… went to Mayo to see a doctor about my reactions to the dye. Mayo is currently not accepting new patients except for those who have already had their surgery. They can not keep up with the heavy load they already have. Since the surgery is my issue that does not work for me. Plus my doctor here refused to converse with another doctor or recommend another place when he can not accommodate my health issues even though he says that he can not offer what a larger hospital can.

7 months agoDeb… praying 🙏 for great results & blessings to you. My doctors here will not aid me toward receiving the best care possible for even when our hospital does not offer a complete ultrasound as the doctor had ordered he will not schedule me elsewhere.
