This is such a difficult decision to face, and it's completely understandable to feel torn between these treatment options. Many people in this community have navigated similar choices between additional surgery with radiation or mastectomy, and each person's situation is unique. Consider discussing the pros and cons of both approaches with your medical team, including factors like your personal risk tolerance, lifestyle considerations, and long-term outlook. Others here may share their experiences with similar decisions, which could help you think through what feels right for your situation.

6 months agoI had a lumpectomy on December 10th. They found it was invasive and I had a full mastectomy on January 10th. I’m not regretting my decision, even though my right breast was totally clear of cancer. My issue is the treatment choices going forward.

6 months agoI found out I had breast cancer in July 2023.. I had a lumpsectomy in Sept..My Dr told me that there was alittle more towards my sternum..I decided to have a full right side mastectomy. I was told I was cancer free but still had to see the oncologist..that dr said he was sending a culture of my last biopsy to see how aggressive that the cancer was..if it was below 25% I wouldn't need chemo just radiation an hormone therapy an if it was 26% or higher I would need chemo treatment well mine came back at 36%..I am in chemo I have had 2 rounds so far an 2 to go then start hormone therapy...

6 months agoSorry these phones are crazy. Was I scared of times? Sure, but I prayed about it and ask God to deliver me..gave it all to him and let it be his will and glory. I can’t wait!☀️

6 months agoI went to Mayo Clinic in Florida. If they don’t get clear borders the first lumpectomy or if they have to go back in the second time, it’s an automatic mastectomy.

6 months agoI had lumpectomy, no clear borders so second surgery 2 weeks later. DCIS 1-2, no relation to estrogen or progesterone. Did radiation 25 days, worked full time. I am 76. Clear mammogram at 6 months. No followup treatment.

6 months agoDenise, if you had triple negative breast cancer stage 1, would you still go the natural way, no chemo, no radiation , that’s what I want to do because the percentage of reoccurrence is high and I can’t do this twice. The chemo really does a lot of bad things and however much time I have, I would like to enjoy instead of being sick for a year
