How to Choose Between Lumpectomy and Mastectomy for Extensive DCIS?

I too had an extensive area of tumor and suspicious cells. My surgeon told me that she could not obtain an esthetic look and clear margins with just a lumpectomy. I’m 2 weeks out from a double mastectomy and am happy to have that decision behind me.
