7 months agoI was diagnosed with DCIS ,stage 0 had a biopsy and a breast MRI so far. Next week a Dexa scan, test for the Braca Gene and then seeing the breast surgeon. Protocols call for lumpectomy followed by radiation . I’m not doing radiation. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

6 months agoSame diagnosis. I had a lumpectomy two weeks ago, it has gone better than I expected. I do plan on having radiation, to lessen the chance of recurrence. In my case, the plan is for 5 radiation treatments, one every other day. After that, I will go on meds. If there are any questions I can answer for you, I am happy to.

6 months agoHi Susan, I have the same diagnosis and will have a lumpectomy in 2 weeks then radiation. Do you mind sharing what prompted you to forego radiation. I’m 50/50 about. What is your course of treatment after that.

6 months agoI think this type of cancer gets over treated. Stage 0, grade 1. I’m meeting with a radiologist on Monday to discuss. I may change my mind if it’s only 5 treatments. Or skip radiation and take the hormones. Just not sure yet.

4 months agoI also have ductal insitu. Stage 2. Radiation 15 treatments and hormone blockers was suggested. I am not doing either and doing a double mastectomy. They say a small chance of recurrence with radiation, but 12 percent recurrence seemed high to me. I think I just don’t trust my body. I had bladder cancer 17 years ago so my body makes cancer. I feel that mastectomy for me is the best choice, but scared to death.
