a year agoI was diagnosed with lobular carcinoma HER - hormone + breast cancer. I have osteopenia. I’ve had 2 knee replacements and need hip replacement. I am concerned what radiation and hormones will do to my body and joints. Should I have hip surgery before radiation and hormone treatment?

This is such an important question to discuss with your oncology and orthopedic teams, as the timing of different treatments can be complex and very individual. Many patients face similar decisions about coordinating cancer treatment with other medical needs, and both your cancer care team and orthopedic surgeon will need to weigh factors specific to your situation. Consider asking about how the treatments might affect each other and what the optimal timeline might look like for your particular case.
