I too was triple positive and had idc and dcis. I went through chemo because the idc in my right did venture into my axilla lymph node. I finished chemo May 15. Had a bilateral lumpectomy on June 16. Got clear margins!!! I start radiation in a couple weeks. I agree with your mom, the lymph node was the worse part. They removed 12. I have nerve twinges down my right arm and my incision is a lot larger than my left side, where they just removed the DCIS (no lymph nodes!). Overall, the surgery was easy peasy!! Chemo sucked!! I can’t weigh in yet on the radiation. Good luck!

They can do an MRI to assess lymph nodes? Why then is my surgeon not suggesting we do that first? I just got diagnosed with grade1 IDC that is Estrogen and Progesterone positive but inconclusive results on HER2 test. Surgeon said they would take one or more lymph nodes to check them. I’m debating breast reduction..
