2 years agoI was diagnosed with IDC about 3 weeks ago. On follow up MRI they also found a second spot. It was biopsies this week and determined it is DCIS. one spot is at about 8 o’clock and the other is at 12 o’clock. Do they typically take the entire breast? Just trying to get some thoughts before I meet with my surgeon. Also if anyone has experience with the flap procedure they could share.

Treatment decisions like whether a lumpectomy or mastectomy is recommended depend on many factors that your surgical team will discuss with you, including the size and location of both areas. It's great that you're preparing thoughtful questions before meeting with your surgeon - they'll be able to explain all your options and help you understand what approach might work best for your specific situation. Many community members here have shared helpful experiences about different surgical procedures, so hopefully others will chime in with their insights about flap procedures and recovery.

6 months agoI recently had one at. 11:00. You have many options depending on the size of the spots. I could have done a lumpectomybut chose a mastectomy with reconstruction. I'm in the middle of that right now. It's not so bad. Ask about your options and research a lot. Make the decision that's right for YOU. Blessings to you!

6 months agoDepending how far apart the areas are, or if there's multiple sites determine whether they recommend mastectomy or a lumpectomy. If you choose a lumpectomy you would need radiation

6 months agoThey have recommended a double mastectomy. I am still not sure if I will need radiation or chemo. Hoping they have caught it early.

6 months agoKimberly, I am meeting with my surgeon tomorrow. I have IDC ER+PR+HER- , surgeon suspects Stage 1A, and recommends lumpectomy and radiation, depending on whether or not any sentinel lymph nodes come back as positive, and pending my genetic mutation test results. I am thinking that a bilateral mastectomy would give me more peace of mind, however surgeon educated me that the efficacy and studies of recurrence of both lumpectomy versus bilateral mastectomy are the same? I’d love to hear your experience and why your doctor recommended double mastectomy. Sending lots of love this holiday season ❤️

6 months agoI had bilateral four on one. Your stage one, Just do the a Partial mastectomy, which is the remover all the trimmer and tissue. And see how that goes. Don’t rush into taking your breasts off for no reason. I had four in one and I did not nor did I have radiation, chemo or the pill why so radical do alternative Integrative Functional doctor and Re-search the non-aggressive treatments please. There’s plenty of free webinars on Instagram Facebook online get to the core of the problem. Always get a second opinion I had three from three.
