Concerns Before Starting Cancer Hormone Therapy

I'm about to meet oncology doctor this Friday to start endocrine cancer therapy hormones. I'm not sure which of the three she suggested to start taking. Terrible side effects for all. Of course I'll do what I need to to fight the Cancer from coming back or spreading. Also, I've noticed my right armpit always smells bad now, anyone else notice this after completing radiation and the healing? I mainly notice it when I wake up in the am. I work from home, so I don't always put on deodorant, i do shower every day after workout and before bed. Tia

It's completely understandable to feel anxious about starting hormone therapy, especially when weighing potential side effects against the benefits of preventing cancer recurrence. Many patients in this community have faced similar decisions and found it helpful to write down specific questions and concerns before meeting with their oncologist. Regarding the armpit odor concern, this can happen during the healing process after radiation - bringing this up with the medical team on Friday would be wise since they can provide guidance on whether this is part of normal recovery or something that needs attention.

Yes! Had no smell throughout surgery healing but had a few days where I smelled like I hadn’t showered. It has since gone away but I start radiation today so we’ll see!

Yes, it has finally gotten somewhat better but the smell was quite a surprise. Wasn’t expecting that. Yes, the side effects of all hormone suppressants are bad. Just find the one that works best for you.

Lots of joint pain- intense but gets less through stretching. Intense sweating but a portable fan helps. Loss of bone density. All of these side effects vary from individual to individual you may have to try various ones to find the one that works best for you.
