a year agoThis is my second diagnosis in same breast, 2 yrs since treatment. I’ve gathered much information and am a little surprised my surgeon is more apt to do another lumpectomy and radiation and I’m leaning towards a unilateral mastectomy. Why do the same thing over and expect different results? It’s caught early and only 1/2 cm but still why give it a third chance?

This decision between treatment options can feel overwhelming, especially when facing a second diagnosis. Many patients find themselves weighing similar questions about whether to pursue the same approach or consider a different path forward. It's encouraging that this was caught early, and having open conversations with your medical team about all available options and your concerns can help ensure you make the choice that feels right for your specific situation.

6 months agoI had DCIS, caught early, and still my doctor recommended a bilateral mastectomy. I didn’t have to have any other treatment, which was a blessing. My doctor was very proactive and I appreciated that.
