Hi, I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in December & will be starting treatments in 2 days. I just turned 60. Is there anyone who has had this & what should I know? I'm pretty down & scared. Thanks in advance.

Starting treatment can feel overwhelming, but this community has many members who have walked similar paths and understand the emotions that come with a new diagnosis. Triple negative breast cancer treatment typically involves a combination approach that may include chemotherapy, surgery, and sometimes radiation, with treatment plans tailored to each person's specific situation and overall health. Many people find it helpful to connect with others here who can share their experiences and offer practical tips for managing treatment - consider reaching out in the community to hear from those who have been through similar journeys.

I too was just diagnosed with IDC triple negative breast cancer. I am 60 years old. Right now I’m at the denial -OMG stage so I will definitely be looking for input. I see surgeon and oncologist first week of April.

Thanks Michelle for getting back to me, even though I have had my 7th round of chemo now, I still think I'm in the OMG denial period. It's a lot to take in. Make sure you take someone close to you for your appts & record what they are saying to you. It helps a lot because I know my head was in a fog when I went & it helped me a lot to go back & listen many times to understand what they ( your dr's) are telling you. Just an fyi, the exhaustion from chemo is REAL, I have never felt this exhausted in my hole life. Just going from my couch to the bathroom is hard. Chemo treatment are ok, it's just the effects of it afterwards that is not fun. I'm not hear to scare you just trying to inform you & trying to help. We can & will get thru this. I hope you have a strong support system as in your family & friends to help you through this. I've NEVER been one to ask for help but this IS the time to ask for it. If I didn't have family & friends to help I don't know what I would do. Oh, & sign up for every available financial help you can get because the cost is unbearable. Sorry this was so long. Let me know how your journey (if you want to call it that) goes.
