a year agoI'm was diagnosed with invasive mucinous carcinoma on September 16th and was told that we caught it early but they want to do a double mastectomy because of my age, if i do this i probably won't have to do chemo but if i do a lumpectomy I would have to go through Chemotherapy, they highly recommended the mastectomy because of my age I'm 37 and to your for this type of cancer. I completely terrified. How long before you go back to work after having a double mastectomy?

Recovery time after a double mastectomy varies for each person, but many people find they can return to desk work within 2-4 weeks and more physical jobs within 6-8 weeks, depending on healing and whether reconstruction is done at the same time. This is understandably a frightening time, and the community here has many members who have walked this path and can share their experiences about recovery timelines and what to expect.
