I'm was diagnosed with invasive mucinous carcinoma on September 16th and was told that we caught it early but they want to do a double mastectomy because of my age, if i do this i probably won't have to do chemo but if i do a lumpectomy I would have to go through Chemotherapy, they highly recommended the mastectomy because of my age I'm 37 and to your for this type of cancer. I completely terrified. How long before you go back to work after having a double mastectomy?

Recovery time after a double mastectomy varies for each person, but many people find they can return to desk work within 2-4 weeks and more physical jobs within 6-8 weeks, depending on healing and whether reconstruction is done at the same time. This is understandably a frightening time, and the community here has many members who have walked this path and can share their experiences about recovery timelines and what to expect.

Is your job physical at all or desk work? 10 days for desk work . 8 -10 weeks for physical activity pending no complications.

I had a lumpectomy on my left breast on April 23 they. Found out that it was not the primary source and recommended that I have a Mastectomy I agreed to have a double mastectomy done in June followed by chemotherapy and I’m about to start radiation treatment so far I’m. Ok I’m 67 years old God give me the strength to go through this after radiation therapy I’m looking forward to get reconstruction I wish you all the best keep fighting and don’t give up hope
