2 months agoI have just been diagnosed with DCIS stage 0 Er and PR negative. Awaiting genetics results. I am scheduled for a lumpectomy and bilateral breast reduction surgery October 28 My main concern now is recovery from the bilateral reduction I live alone and usually push up off my bed and sofa. I don’t have a recliner nor room for one. My sister will stay with me the first few days. Any ideas to manage this easily are welcome.

Recovery from bilateral breast reduction while living alone can definitely be challenging, but there are several helpful strategies that can make this more manageable. Consider getting a bed wedge or extra pillows to help you sleep more upright, using a grabber tool for reaching items, placing essential items at waist level, and having easy-to-prepare meals ready - many community members have found these adjustments really helpful during their recovery period.

2 months agoI wonder if a wedge would help so you aren’t flat abd less distance to push up

2 months agoI have an adjustable bed and thought that would be enough. I think I know where a wedge is at my dad’s. However probably should consider a new one for sanitary reasons. Thank you.

2 months agoHi, Angela, a wedge pillow definitely helps a lot! I used one for about 7-8 weeks after my mastectomy. It made getting up from the bed easier and the angle of the wedge made being on the bed more comfortable for me.
