a year agoI had lumpectomy last week. I go for follow-up with surgeon on 20th. At that point he said he wanted me to consult with oncologist and medical oncologist. Does he refer me to someone or do I need to find someone on my own? If where do I start.
Accepted Answer
Most surgeons typically provide referrals to oncologists, especially since they work closely with these specialists as part of your care team. When you meet with your surgeon on the 20th, it's perfectly reasonable to ask about the referral process and whether they have specific oncologists they recommend who are familiar with your case and work well within your insurance network.

6 months agoThey should refer you to oncologist and if not sure check with your nurse navigator that set up your surgery. ❤️
