4 months agoJust diagnosed with ILC. What is a typical process for this cancer. Who do I meet with to move forward. What should I be doing now?
Accepted Answer
Getting an ILC diagnosis can feel overwhelming, and it's completely natural to wonder about next steps. Typically, the process involves meeting with an oncologist who will help create a personalized treatment plan based on staging tests and other factors specific to your diagnosis. Many find it helpful to write down questions beforehand and consider bringing a trusted person to appointments for support - the community here has lots of experience navigating these early steps and can offer valuable insights about what to expect.

4 months agoI think you need to find a breast health/breast cancer center, a practice that includes surgeons and oncologists that specialize in breast cancer treatment, radiation, medication. I think centers affiliated with large hospitals, particularly university hospitals are best.

4 months agoSurgeon first. I was diagnosed with ILC in February. My GC who is actually a cardiologist gave me a great surgeon. ILC is very slow moving and you can't even feel it when you do a self exam. I had a lumpectomy, then 20 days of radiation treatment. Love all my doctors. Now I'm taking Anastrozole for 5 years. Also heard that Aquaphor makes radiation burn more. My Oncologist gave me a prescription for Sulfadiazine - worked great. Hope this is helpful. Best to you.

4 months agoContact Dr Kristina Rojas here in Miami at The University Hospital in Miami. Also while I was admitted to this hospital when I needed a nurse I had pressed a button which was located on the bed. The recording was please do Not get up without a Nurse and the nurse will be right in your room. That is exactly what happened within 2 minutes a nurse would appear
