2 years agoNewly diagnosed 65 year old female with invasive ductal carcinoma diagnosed on 3/14. Tumor is around 1.5 cm under nipple and has spread to the lymph nodes. The node biopsied was 1cm. Grade 3, ER positive, HER2 negative. KI-67 13%. I will find out next steps with first appt with surgeon. The nurse navigator said the surgeon would more than likely do a sentinel lymph node test during surgery to find out how many nodes were involved. She also said Genomic Assay would be ran. Of course I have lots of questions.

Receiving a breast cancer diagnosis brings many questions, and it's completely natural to feel overwhelmed while waiting for those next steps with your surgical team. The sentinel lymph node biopsy and genomic testing your nurse navigator mentioned are standard tools that help create the most personalized treatment plan for your specific situation. Many others in this community have walked this same path and found it helpful to write down questions before appointments to make the most of time with their medical team.

6 months agoCan I ask how they knew it’s in lymph nodes before testing them?

6 months agoThey saw them on the ultrasound and tested one during the biopsy. My CT w/contract saw them also. I was supposed to have a mastectomy and the surgeon would further clear the nodes. That surgery is not happening now.

6 months agoI saw my oncologist yesterday. We left with a treatment plan pending further review with my medical team. Scans showed “activity” in my lumbar area. Well….it has metastasized in L3 & L4 and in R & L iliac bones😢 Who would have thought? It all started with a <2 cm central mass with 2 confirmed lymph node of around a cm. Mass has spread to skin. 2 scans later advanced stage IV. Original treatment very much changed. Back to oncologist next Wednesday. He is trying to qualify me for the Harmonia trial. I need prayer warriors🙏

Speak LIFE into this situation… it doesn’t matter what the doctor says, focus on the unseen not your circumstances. I pray the Holy Spirit comforts and calms your mind and heart!
