a year agoHi I was diagnosed last week with TNBC. I just received the results of my PET scan. While I am overly happy to see no distal metastases. When I Google (yes I know, I shouldn’t Google) what is says about my breast mass it’s scary… has anyone’s PET results said this- “Intensely FDG avid mass in inferior aspect of left breast. SUV max 26.3.” Or had an SUV number that high? And if so what were you told. I hate that I have to wait until Tuesday to ask my oncologist 😫

SUV values on PET scans can definitely seem alarming when searching online, but these numbers need to be interpreted by your medical team alongside other factors like tumor size, location, and your overall clinical picture. While waiting for Tuesday can feel overwhelming, it's encouraging that your scan showed no distant spread - that's truly significant positive news. Many community members have found it helpful to write down their questions beforehand so they can have a thorough discussion with their oncologist about what these results mean specifically for their treatment plan.
