a day agoI was recently diagnosed with low-risk, Stage I prostate cancer. My doctor explained that I have several treatment options available, including active surveillance (careful monitoring), surgery (radical prostatectomy), and different types of radiation therapy like external beam radiation and brachytherapy. It's reassuring to know that all of these approaches are considered equally appropriate for my situation, but I'm still trying to figure out what might be the best path forward for me. I'd love to hear from others who've been in a similar position with low-risk prostate cancer. • What factors helped you decide between active surveillance and active treatment? • If you chose treatment, what was your experience like with recovery and daily life afterward?

a day agoThis is such a thoughtful question that many people face after a low-risk prostate cancer diagnosis. The decision between active surveillance and treatment often comes down to personal factors like age, overall health, family history, anxiety levels about having untreated cancer, and how potential side effects might impact quality of life. Hearing from others who've walked this path can provide valuable perspectives as you weigh these important considerations with your medical team.

19 hours agoI'm in the exact same boat and really appreciate you asking this question - it's such a tough decision to navigate! You've captured all the considerations I'm wrestling with too, and I'm hoping to learn from others' experiences here.
