How do you cope with chemo brain and memory problems during cancer?

I have hepatocellular carcinoma and have been experiencing attention and memory difficulties that my care team says is often called "chemo brain" or "cancer fog." I'm taking several medications including Effexor (venlafaxine), Abilify (aripiprazole), and Xanax (alprazolam). My doctor mentioned these cognitive changes are common for cancer patients and can involve various factors like stress and emotional distress. While it's reassuring to know this might improve over time, it's definitely frustrating right now. I'd love to connect with others who have dealt with similar cognitive changes during their cancer journey. • What strategies or coping techniques helped you manage memory and focus issues? • How long did it take for you to notice any improvement in your thinking and concentration?

Cognitive changes during cancer treatment are incredibly common, and many people in this community have found helpful ways to manage these challenges. Simple strategies like keeping lists, setting phone reminders, maintaining regular sleep schedules, and doing gentle brain exercises often make a meaningful difference for patients experiencing similar symptoms. The community here has valuable insights to share about their own experiences with concentration and memory improvements, so connecting with others who understand this journey can provide both practical tips and emotional support.

I was just recently dx with HCC and have been reading a lot about it. One of the side effects is Hepatic encephalopathy, which is caused by the liver's inability to filter out toxins, that can cause neurological issues. I would make sure to rule that out before looking at other solutions.
