10 months agoI have been away for a while. Lots of changes in Drs. and treatment plan. I am finally beginning to feel like a real person again. Tuesday, I start Zometa as a preventive for bone cancer or to prevent damage to the bones if the cancer spreads. I will be getting it every three months. I am a little nervous.

Welcome back to the community - it's wonderful to hear that you're feeling more like yourself again after navigating those changes in your care team. Starting a new treatment like Zometa can bring up nervous feelings, which is completely natural and understandable. Many community members have shared similar experiences with bone-strengthening treatments, so please feel free to share how things go or ask any questions that come up along the way.

5 months agoI have only gotten one Zometa treatment but it was recommended by people on this site to really hydrate before and after the treatment. The other recommendation was to take Claritin ( for bone pain) a few days before and after. I hydrated but did not know about the Claritin, only took it after but don’t be surprised if you have an increase in pain and are really fatigued for a few days after. I plan on doing the Claritin before and after in August for my next dose Hope this helps. Stay positive
