I have been away for a while. Lots of changes in Drs. and treatment plan. I am finally beginning to feel like a real person again. Tuesday, I start Zometa as a preventive for bone cancer or to prevent damage to the bones if the cancer spreads. I will be getting it every three months. I am a little nervous.

Welcome back to the community - it's wonderful to hear that you're feeling more like yourself again after navigating those changes in your care team. Starting a new treatment like Zometa can bring up nervous feelings, which is completely natural and understandable. Many community members have shared similar experiences with bone-strengthening treatments, so please feel free to share how things go or ask any questions that come up along the way.

I have only gotten one Zometa treatment but it was recommended by people on this site to really hydrate before and after the treatment. The other recommendation was to take Claritin ( for bone pain) a few days before and after. I hydrated but did not know about the Claritin, only took it after but don’t be surprised if you have an increase in pain and are really fatigued for a few days after. I plan on doing the Claritin before and after in August for my next dose Hope this helps. Stay positive
