I’m scared! I have a brain mri coming. I recently have gotten progression in my bones. The doctor is looking for a new treatment for me to start because my old treatment is causing heart problems. I just don’t know what to do or how to feel. I watch movies to distract myself. Please help if you have suggestions

I believe all metavivors are scared. But, for me I put on a happy face for my kids and grandkids. The waiting on the next scan causes immeasurable anxiety. My kids know that my QOL is not great now. I'm on the fence if I want to continue treatments. I've just restarted treatment after a 2 month break for my body to recover. I've been on treatments 10 years, 8 months. I'm praying you will have the strength to continue your journey and find a hobby to keep you active.

It's completely understandable to feel scared when facing an MRI and potential treatment changes, especially while dealing with progression. Watching movies is a great distraction technique - many find that breathing exercises, listening to calming music, or connecting with others in similar situations can also help manage anxiety during these challenging times. Consider reaching out to your care team about your concerns, as they may have additional resources or strategies to help you feel more prepared and supported.

I like that term Virginia.- metavivors. That’s what we are. I am always scared but put on that Happy face for my granddaughter. Lately this medicine is kicking my butt. No end in sight but I am here and grateful .

Hi Candy I don’t know if u know me but I’ve not written in awhile. I too had breast cancer and was in remission for 8 yrs. But during those 8 yrs. I made sure to still have the tumor markers checked and a pet-scan every couple of mons. So of course the last scan I had 5 yrs. showed a tumor on my spine. It is malignant and now I have bone cancer affecting my back. I’ve had 4 different chemo pills and chemo the last 5 yrs. The pain is relentless. Now with this new chemo I’m getting the pain is gone accept when I’m on my feet too long. Sometimes I get to the point when I go want to give up. But we know u can’t do that. Whenever I have to go for a scan u should see what a mess I am. Crying and praying to my Mom&Dad to keep their hands on me. So far with a few bumps in the road I’ve been lucky and so will u. Unfortunately we’re all in this together and just have to pray for each other. It just seems like u take on step forward and 2 back. My husband and I have been trying to move for 2 yrs. I live in Fl. My house is in Naples. Hopefully by next month we’ll be able to move. I’m also back in chemo again. So it makes it kinda hard. But this to shall pass! If u ever want to write or vent I’m here. Good luck on ur scan. Let me know how u do. Mary❤️

Hi Candy. I have metastatic Breast Cancer to the brain. My treatment team calls what you are going through , scan anxiety. It's a real thing. I use a small dose of Ativan when stress takes hold. The main thing that I have done is pray for the peace that surpasses all understanding. For the most part I am very peaceful.. I really encourage you to pray to your higher power. I do not preach religion I just highly recommend it.
