3 years agoI saw this conversation on another site. Does anyone find the cancer commercials and even commercials for other meds and all those happy people annoying? I feel like it portrays an unfair message to the general public about cancer patients. I personally hate them. It makes my dialy fight harder when I can't do as much as I want or I tire out before the activity is over or just don't have the energy to do the things I love. But people think I should because of what they see on tv. I also hate the term warrior. Yes, I fight, but short of a miracle, I will not win the fight. I saw this recently. I want to share it. https://www.adn.com/opinions/2023/06/09/opinion-dont-call-me-a-brave-warrior/?fbclid=IwAR2Y6zgkOPlMG_6UlchFjAru6FrX_tAd9ZSIJ73lTzHfqeY2hZUMTCswx9w

Those commercials can feel particularly frustrating when living with metastatic cancer, as they often show an idealized version that doesn't match many patients' daily realities. The pressure to appear strong or upbeat all the time can add an emotional burden when dealing with fatigue, treatment effects, and the practical challenges of managing a serious illness. Many in this community have shared similar feelings about the disconnect between media portrayals and their actual experiences, and it's completely understandable to find terminology like "warrior" unhelpful when it doesn't reflect how you want to approach your journey.

9 months agoI couldn’t agree more. Everyday is a fight and showing happy people leading normal lives does not represent me.

9 months agoI have a former -in-law who has health issues but never cancer. She constantly posts on Facebook about living with cancer I hate her posts; they remind me of the medication ads. False and unrealistic. I want to yell at her to check her statements before she posts anything.😬

9 months agoI agree. It is a joke. You cannot survive with the mindset that today's oncologists have
