2 years agoI read through the blog about distant recurrence today. I was told when I was diagnosed in 2015 there was no connection between prostate cancer and breast cancer, so no genetic testing was done. Now I am told there is. When did that understanding change?
Accepted Answer
The understanding of genetic links between prostate and breast cancers evolved significantly in the 2010s, particularly as research on BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations expanded beyond just breast and ovarian cancers. Current guidelines now recommend genetic testing for many breast cancer patients, especially those with family histories of various cancers, reflecting how much our knowledge has grown about hereditary cancer syndromes and their connections across different cancer types.

7 months agoI did research back in 2004 and there was some correlation back then between prostate and breast cancer. I also read that all men get prostate cancer if they live long enough.
