I have recently learned I have 2 tiny brain mets and will be undergoing the Gamma Knife procedure. What was that procedure like for you? I’m so scared

It's completely natural to feel scared before any procedure, especially when dealing with brain metastases. Many community members have shared that the Gamma Knife procedure is typically non-invasive and often completed as an outpatient treatment, though experiences can vary from person to person. Consider asking your medical team about what to expect during your specific procedure and any comfort measures they recommend - they'll have the best insight into your particular situation and can address your concerns directly.

I'm scheduled for Monday and I'm also having anxiety about METS to brain. I keep trying to remind myself to live each moment and my therapist reminds me that 'future thinking' is what puts me into anxiety. Not looking at the what ifs and future when's is hard for me but bit by bit I'm getting there.

For me the worst part was being in the device they use during the treatment to keep you completely still. The procedure itself did not hurt during or after. You’ll be ok. Maybe as your MO if you can have Ativan or something to help calm your nerves during it. Best if you can just nap through it
