Are Side Effects Worse on Kisqali Compared to Ibrance?

Does anyone know if side effects are worse on Kisqali ? I’ve been on Ibrance 75 mg and the side effects aren’t so bad. I have to change due to insurance dropping Ibrance as a preferred drug. My Oncologist said it will be ok, K is more toxic.

Insurance changes can create so much stress, especially when switching between treatments that work similarly. Many community members have shared experiences with both medications, and side effect profiles can vary quite a bit from person to person. It sounds like having an open conversation with your oncologist about what to expect and how to manage any differences could be really helpful as you make this transition.

Hello, I’m recently diagnosed (3 months ago) I just started my second cycle of Kisqali. There are blood tests every 2 weeks. EKG before each cycle so far but unsure if that will continue. I have been fatigued, occasionally nauseous in AM. My neutrophils are dropping so I’m sure there will be intervention for that. I also have had occasional headaches. Hope that helps.

Thank you, Peggy it sounds like pretty much the same side effects I’m having with Ibrance. 💜

I could not tolerate Ibrance. Diarrhea and vomiting was so bad I couldn’t leave the house. I’ve been in Kisqail for over a year and can tolerate it much better. I do have severe fatigue with it, and joint pain is worse than with Kisqail but I would rather have these side effects than the other. It has improved my quality of life

Thank you Peggy, I am on my second cycle of Kisqali. Thru the first cycle I had very severe fatigue, headaches, no appetite. But now I am on 200 mg and the side effects aren’t quite so bad. And, my pet scan says “0” active cancer cells and my Dr says I’m in remission. I am so blessed.

Oh Terry! I’m So happy for you. I had 3 cycles. My tumor in my breast has shrunk, the 2 small ones in my spine are sclerosis so my oncologist decided a right mastectomy. He was very pleased with my results. Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday. I’m not looking forward to it but I know it’s getting rid of the source.
