I’m 77 and just got diagnosed with MBC (Mets to the spine. L1). Just finished the first 2 weeks of Kisqali 400 mg and letrozole. I haven’t noticed any side effects but my ECG showed electrical changes from the one 2 weeks ago. Ive been told that treating MBC at my age is more difficult than at a younger age. Have any of you been diagnosed at an advanced age?

Many community members have shared experiences with metastatic breast cancer diagnoses at various life stages, and age-related treatment considerations are definitely something others have navigated too. It's encouraging that the treatment is going well so far, and keeping open communication with the medical team about any changes like the ECG findings sounds like the right approach. Other members who've been through similar situations may have valuable insights to share about their experiences with treatment at different ages.

I’m 70 and I was diagnosed 4 years ago. Right away I got back on a healthy diet. No weekend over indulging. I got in great shape as best I could and I breezed through treatment.

Susan, I'm 72, I am on Kisqali and exemestane. I'm showing signs of ILD & CKD from my last scans and blood work. I have scans again in September and my doctor and I will discuss whether I stay on Kisqali. I was on Ibrance for 6 years. I just read some data on this site that Kisqali is more effective in 60 or older patients. I think some of my side effects (nausea/diarrhea) are from the exemestane. I pray you will do well.

I’m 69 today, it’s been about three years since I was diagnosed with MBC I’ve been hanging in there but I’m in pain today getting to take pain medicine. I’m on the same treatment plan, Kisqali and Letrozole. I’m thinking that the medication stopped working.

I am 69 and just had my one year anniversary of chemo treatment. I feel fine, and there are no side effects after infusion sessions now.

I’m 80. Coming up on 2 years. Mets to spine. I’m responding well to iBrance and Letrozole. I’m getting Zometa injections every 3 months. Fatigue is my biggest issue. I can live with that.

I’m 75 and I had a lumpectomy and radiation in the spring / summer of 2022. That November I started having rib pains but no one reading X-rays at 5!! ER visits saw fractures. My PCP said I had Costochondritis. For 4 months… In April 2023 my daughter took me to the ER and via a CT scan, a diagnosis of MBC with cancer in almost every bone in my body and uncountable rib fractures. We thought I was a goner. I started Ibrance 125 mg, monthly Fasolex injections, Zometa infusions every 12 weeks, Xtampaza ER for pain. When I restart the 3 week Ibrance cycle and get the Fasolex injections I feel like I’ve got the flu for a few days, worse if it’s time for Zometa. Two weeks later I’m fine again. A few months ago Ibrance was reduced to to 100 mg. I can’t say I feel the difference. All that to write that my blood antigen tests show this regimen is working very well. I get Ct and bone scans every 3 months and my rib fractures have all healed (although not all perfectly). Some rib bones are actually regenerating! Two “hot spots” left, T 11 and T12. I’m in the process of reducing / eliminating xtampza, which has a host of new discomfort but I’m looking forward to letting it go. Good luck to you, Susan. We are lucky to benefit from treatment advancements! PS. Apologies for length and typos! I felt the need to share.

I was diagnosed on 3/31/2020. I was 45yo at that time. I've been taking Kisqali and Letrozole since then. It shrunk my main tumor in my breast by quite a lot in the beginning. But it's SO far just staying "stable" with no additional changes. I didn't have any issues mainly at 1st. But I think maybe around a year or so ago, my liver enzymes went up so high it was off the charts. We did a lot of additional bloodwork and such. But never did figure out why it happened. They came down quite a bit the next month and the next one, they were back to normal. I take the 600 MG kisqali 3weeks on 1 week off. I do get overly tired and have nausea/vomiting (more like dry heaves) at times. Especially if I smell something bad, it's just automatic. I was never like that before, but it sure is rough now. I have read so many articles about this and they do say women of your age (NO DISRESPECT INTENDED!!) are far more likely to be diagnosed with this than younger people usually. And depending on any prior health issues you may have had prior, can make it harder to treat. However, the Kisqali is quite a drug. Maybe, it just needs some more time to get it worked out in your system. I wish you the very best!! And I'm sending prayers for you! 🩷🩷🙏🙏🙏🙏

I also take mine at night. I figure, WHY deal with the side effects from it all day long?? When you can (hopefully) just sleep through the worst. May God bless you and you have my prayers 🙏 🙏🙏🙏

I was diagnosed 5 years ago at the age of 72 with Mets in my spine and hip. I was on Ibrance and Aromasin for 4 years, and I was switched to Orserdu a year ago because I have the ESR1 mutation. My last PET scan in June was stable, but my tumor markers have been going up since May. Blessings, Sue

I just finished a therapy session with my therapist, she did a guided meditation session and I feel like I could concur the world! I just had to share. In spite of my stage 4 BC I feel good today, I don’t know how I will feel tomorrow. However; yesterday is gone and tomorrow hasn’t arrived, I’m living today. Best wishes to all 💕🫶🏼

I am MBC in liver as well and after Verzenio+letrozole failed, and fulvestran+everlimus failed, just started xeloda chemo pills. Liver values and CA15-3 keep going up and nothing seems to stop it. Did anyone went back from chemo to ibrance or kisqali?
