a year agoAnyone using metformin along with chemo pills?
Accepted Answer
Many patients in metastatic breast cancer communities discuss combining different medications during treatment, and it's great that you're reaching out to connect with others who might have similar experiences. This kind of medication combination question is definitely something to discuss thoroughly with your oncology team, as they can provide guidance based on your specific treatment plan and medical history.

6 months agoI haven’t started yet. My oncologist is reluctant to prescribe anything that is not in the standard treatments. So I was curious how others are doing with the combination in hopes to convince my oncologist to prescribe it to me

6 months agoI had done some literature review, and it seems at this time it is still inconclusive whether there is really any benefit. Real word studies do not confirm it can definitely treat cancer. It may reduce the risk of cancer and which cancers and it may increase the risk of pancreatic cancer. My husband uses it for type 2 diabetes and he gets brain fog from the med.

6 months agoBanu M. I think we all would. I don't feel like I don't want to take more meds or herbs than I already do that haven't been confirmed or tested in humans. I have enough side effects. I don't need more. Might consider a trial when or if my disease progresses. It's sometimes so hard to know what the best thing is.
