My Melanoma Journey: From Stage 3 to Stage 4

I was diagnosed with melanoma in March and it was already a stage 3. I started taking keytruda, had a scan for an update and the cancer has spread to my bones making it stage 4. Now I am starting two different infusions at once Tuesday.. a little concerned, but I know God is by my side the entire way.

Thank you for sharing your journey with this community - facing a progression to stage 4 takes incredible courage, and it's understandable to feel concerned about starting two new treatments simultaneously. Many others in this melanoma community have navigated similar treatment changes and may have helpful experiences to share about managing combination therapies.

I'm so sorry. Any reason for the delay? Mine started as a 4 then gradually went to a 2C. They had to cut n go deeper than thought and I start infusions in 2 wks. I was very fortunate mine did not spread to any lymph nodes but Lord the scans I had to go through was miserable. Prayers they get on with your treatment

Keytruda and Yervoy gave me Addison disease and autoimmune hepatitis. It didn’t work. Cancer went from groin lymph nodes to stage 4 bilateral lungs. Neither my oncologist in Las Vegas and now Spokane had nothing much to offer. I had 1 hr virtual appt with a melanoma specialist at Fred Hutchinson Csncer Center at U of W in Seattle and he suggested the Opdualag. I went from state 4, 20 pulmonary nodules to no visualized or measurable nodules and my Signatera neg and it was positive in March before I started treatment

Wait, what Jill?! That is incredible and this is a HUGE testimony as to why getting a 2nd (or 3rd) opinion can be life saving. I'm so happy for you and thankful you shared. When I was going through active treatment I went to Fred Hutch for a 2nd opinion too! Amazing experience. So glad you are a part of our community. 💛 Suzanne (Community Moderator)

I had stage 4. Lettuce and yervoy gave me Addisons disease and autoimmune hepatitis and the tumor grew larger. What saved my life and put me in remission is OPDUALAG. IT IS A NEW IMMUNOTHERAPY drug for melanoma. Good luck and god bless

Fred Hutch’s Dr Hall saved my life. The Oncologist in Las Vegas and the new one in Washington did not recommend opdualag.

Mine spread to my T9 vertebrae. I just finished 3 rounds of radiation and taking Opdivo every 3 weeks. I hope your treatment goes well and will be praying for you
