2 months agoI have just been diagnosed with superficial spreading melanoma. My question is? When you were diagnosed ? Did you get a second opinion? Also did you choose your own surgeon?

2 months agoGetting a second opinion after a melanoma diagnosis is a common and often wise decision that many patients choose to pursue. Seeking additional perspectives from different oncologists or dermatologists can provide reassurance about treatment plans and help ensure all options are explored. Many patients also find it helpful to research and select surgeons who specialize in melanoma treatment, as their expertise can make a significant difference in outcomes and care quality.

4 days agoI think getting a second opinion depends on what kind of facility you are going to. I did not go out of my facility for a second opinion because I have a doctor at a very large cancer facility and the oncologists get together to discuss the patients on a regular basis. In effect, I am getting a number of cancer docs looking at my case. Absent that, I would have gotten a second opinion.
