Having second thoughts about a treatment decision is completely natural, especially when considering how it might affect the things that bring joy and meaning to your life like traveling and relationships. Many people in similar situations weigh the potential benefits against possible lifestyle changes when facing treatment options for recurrent cancer. This community is a great place to connect with others who may have experienced similar decisions, and discussing your specific concerns with your medical team can help you make the choice that feels right for your unique situation.

Hi George, I have no advice for you I’m just starting my journey with aggressive prostate cancer that has spread to lymph nodes and rectum . Your story gives me hope my oncologist is giving me 5 - 7 years but I’m going to give it all I have. I wish you the best with your decision and I’m praying for us all. Michael McVey.

I’m just reading my after visit summary from my radiation oncologist I’m a Gleason 10 a IVB cT4 with rectal invasion and lymph nodes PSA 48.40 at the start and now is 1.11.They have me on chemo medication abiraterone and prednisone and with 28 days of radiation sometime in late October. What sucks they are giving me about 5 years or a little more. I asked my lead oncologist if I could go on a 2 week vacation while I feel good with my sons and he said that he would talk to me about it on our next visit September 18th. That makes me nervous and I don’t know what to say other than this is not the way I want to end my life. How is it at the end of cancer? Is there a pill where I can just go away when it gets close and be with my wife. I’m by myself and my boy’s are not near. I’m getting kinda scared. It sucks the holidays are coming up and my wife who passed last March 19th loved that time of the year. I so miss her!
