Hi , I’m not sure if this is “my group” here. My 36 year old daughter passed away 2 weeks ago from cancer, her 2nd time getting cancer. I’m trying to let the “unfairness” emotion go and to keep breathing in and out. Are there grief groups in this community? Thanks, Jill

This community welcomes anyone touched by cancer, and grief support is an important part of healing after such a profound loss. Many members have found comfort in both online grief support groups and local in-person groups through hospices, hospitals, and community centers - searching for "grief support groups near me" or contacting local cancer centers can help locate resources in your area.

Does your daughter have a social worker? That person should have been able to help you the best in your local area. I did a grief group when my husband died (unrelated to cancer) and it really helped. This is my 2nd cancer as well. I actually went into this brain cancer pretty confident as my breast cancer treatment wasn't that bad and I survived. Well,....... The more I learn, the more I have to lean on my therapist and God. Ive accepted i have no control. It's all in God's hands. God bless you and your daughter.

Hi Jill, my sincere condolences. My uncle recently passed from cancer, my dad was recently diagnosed with cancer, and I am battling cancer. I'm currently seeing a professional to help me through it, plus use this Outcomes4me platform as an outlet as well. I recently started writing poetry, something that was a huge surprise for me as well since it wasn't my thing in high-school - the last time I worked with poetry. Out of no where while at the gym, I got inspired by my own life and thoughts, and began to write on my phone while on the treadmill. I got home and polished it, then shared it with my family. Thus far my first poem was loved by all and made seven of them cry. I just finished my second poem which was also a hit, and working on two more but work in progress. In short, writing about my life experiences (ups and downs), feelings/emotions, and thoughts has helped me get through grieving and my own condition. God bless.

Hi! Jill, the ability to write poetry is awesome! I think we are all looking for something to distract us from what we are all going through. I used to cycle 🚴and do bike camping trips with a couple different groups. I hadn’t been on a bike in several years, but recently I picked up a bike from marketplace and started riding around, It has helped me physically and mentally. The ability to get outside feel the sun on my face, breathe fresh air, get some exercise has been a stress relier and very therapeutic. Thank you for sharing. Perhaps one day you will share your poetry with us. 🙏
