Starting a new treatment regimen can bring up many questions about what to expect physically and emotionally. Many community members find it helpful to connect with others who have experience with these treatments, and discussing both the practical aspects and mental wellness strategies can be valuable as you navigate this journey.

Hello William I was on Calquence for about a year and received many Rituximab infusions with out any side effects. You got this. All the best….

My mantle cell lymphoma came back 4 1/2 years after remission following a stem cell transplant (using my own cells). During the 4 1/2 years I received Rituxan with no problems . When the mantle cell came back Oct 2024, oncologist put me on Calquence. I was bleeding from my bladder for over 2 months as a side effect, and hospitalized for those 2 months with a catheter and blood clots, and transfusions due to low blood counts. Now I’m in physical therapy because after being bedridden for that entire time, my muscles have atrophied and I cannot walk, drive or be independent. Now I’m considering CAR-t therapy but am scared of all of the severe side effects. You don’t know the effects you may experience until you go through it. I’m scared and don’t know what to do.

Hi Carol, So sorry to hear of the severe issues you’ve gone through. After my mantle cell came back after a 2yr remission I went through the CAR T treatment. I was in the hospital for one month with many/if not all the side effects listed. It was a battle but currently in remission again for a year and a half. I understand your concern regarding the side effects. Like the Calquence these side effects can vary with each individual so it’s difficult to know exactly how each treatment will impact each person. I wish you the best in your journey.
