Hello, I was diagnosed with breast CA this past February. I had a lumpectomy and will need radiation soon. I am struggling with my thoughts of doom. My mind is on this cycle of worst case scenarios. I am single so there is no partner to share this with. I don’t like burdening my children. Does anyone else struggle with this, and if so, how do deal with this fear/ aloneness ?? Thanks for reading Mary

The cycle of worrying thoughts and feeling isolated during cancer treatment is incredibly common, and reaching out here shows real strength. Many community members find that connecting with others who understand this journey helps break through that sense of being alone with these fears. For more personal support during this challenging time, scroll down the page from the Home Screen of the app to find the Ask Outcomes4Me box to get in touch with our clinical care experts, and remember that the 988 hotline is always available if you need immediate emotional support.

Mary, cancer is such a scary word and it brings so much doom. I don’t think it’s possible to feel some relief with that until you go through your yearly mammogram after treatment and get an “All Clear”. Even after that it’s hard to shake the black cloud of this diagnosis. All I can offer is do things that you used to do to lighten your mood. I walk every day and was not feeling up to that until about a month after radiation. My gratitude for being on the other side felt forced but I kept doing it until it was sincere. Connect with friends who will accept you talking about this. I have found that not many are but that’s about them not you. There are people who will listen to you. I have found lovely people in the waiting room of the oncologist who know exactly what you are going through. I hope that this site helps you. You are not alone!

Hi Mary, I had a lumpectomy on April 22. I see my oncology radiologist on Tuesday, June 17. I just want to get radiation started so I can heal. I don’t know anything about cancer, except it SUCKS. I do have a strong faith and that helps tremendously. My sister has been by my side from the beginning. Good luck :)

Hi Nancy, we are in the same timeline. I sm getting set up for radiation on The 17th. Hopefully will start treatment the following week. I had my resection on April 23. My margins weren’t big enough. I am graceful it was caught early, but I am a little mad with god. I don’t mean to be disrespectable in any way. At first I was just grateful. But now I kinda mad
