How do I prepare for chemo and stem cell transplant?

I found out I had myelofibrosis in April. My hemoglobin was at 4.9 then. Since then, I have been getting red blood cells and platelet infusions to keep my numbers manageable. I was prescribed a newer medicine called Vonjo to reduce my spleen size. It worked, but I wound up getting a bad rash all over my body and then started vomiting. The next phase starts tomorrow. Chemotherapy begins. I then get a stem cell transplant next week. If it helps anyone else, I will try to keep my progress posted.

Preparing for chemotherapy and stem cell transplant can feel overwhelming, but connecting with your medical team about what to expect and any specific preparation steps can help you feel more ready for this important treatment phase. Many people in this community have walked similar paths and may have helpful insights to share about their experiences with these procedures, so hopefully others will chime in with their perspectives.
