Was diagnosed Stage 3B December of 2024. Treated with chemotherapy and immunotherapy (opdiva) followed by surgical removal of bottom third of right lung and 3 lymph nodes. They tell me im cancer free and not to worry about 5 year reoccurence. They tell me im cured... but I still worry. Anyone else treated similarly?

It's completely natural to feel worried even after receiving positive news about being cancer free - these feelings are shared by many in the community who've gone through similar treatments. While treatment advances have significantly improved outcomes for many patients, discussing these ongoing concerns with your care team can help address specific questions about your individual situation and provide reassurance based on your medical details.

I had a 5 cm tumor in my lower left lobe. It was removed 6 years ago and because of the size under went 6 rounds of chemo, and I still get stressed out when it is time for my scan or when I am dealing with some breathing or lung issues. I have had a cough and sore throat on and off and went to the PA I go to (just moved, so finding a new doctor is not easy), and the only thing she did was listen to my lungs, she didn’t even check my throat or glands. I had to push her to order an x-ray, and she did, but she is telling me that it could be a partial collapsed lung, so needless to say she is no longer my doctor. I have an appointment with a new primary on Monday. My oncologist was on paternity leave and is due back on the 22nd. I also tried to get in to see a pulmonologist but can't get into see one until the end of October. Keeping you in my prayers.

Hi Richard, I was DX August 2024. 13CM tumor RLL. Chemo and immuno for three months then RLL removal. Imuno after for 2 months. I just went thru another CT, PET and broncoscapy. I now have another tumor in my LT lung. I had clear margins and was told I am cured/cancer free only to have it come back I less than 8 months! 😕
